The Hillbillies go Karting
Sunday 25 November was a good day for members of the hillclimb community at the 8 hour endurance kart event at the National Karting Centre, Corbally.
Club member Paul O’Connell organised a team for the event. Denis Hogan, Eanna Carroll, Senan O’Connor and Gerard O’Connor were the other club members on the team. Karen Feeney, Robert Bell Shane Bell and robert Dwane completed the team of nine.
The day began with Paul as team manager organising the times on track for the team members and analysing the competition who were the Cry Babies, Pist N Broke and the Altar Boys. The team members who were familiar with the venue advised the other team members on the best way to drive the track. Donal Griffin and Denis Hogan Snr gave moral support to the team.
At about 12.30 the eight hours of drivining began. Paul made sure all drivers were ready for their 25 minutes stints. Crybabies established themselves as the quick team early on. The Hillbillies sttled down for a long battle with Pist N Broke. When the event finish at 8.30 Crybabies were ithe winners at 400 laps, next Pist N Broke 397 laps, Hillbillies 388 laps and Altar Boys 375
