Padraig McHale wins
Padraig McHale took victory at the Limerick Motor Club autocross at a quarry near Bridgetown Co Clare on Sunday 9 December 2018. The weather was mixed leading to changing conditions on the course which was three laps of a 1.3km circuit. The digger had to go out a number of times to regrade areas of the circuit. Timing and other issues led to a delay in the result going final. Mike O’Connor of the club blitzed the class 5 field with his freshly prepared Mitsubishi Evo. Elaine Higgins Shinnors another club member took the Ladies award. Anthony Nestor who is more associated with co driver seat had a difficult day with the timing belt on the Subabru he shared with Owen Murphy jumped a number of cogs. Walsh father and Son Ed and Cian also problems on the first run but both were quickly solved (driveshaft on Ed’s Impreza and gear linkage on Cian’s 205).
Best time of day (Special): Padraic McHale (Yacar Buggy) 3m 50.29s,
Best time of day (Saloon): Mike O’Connor (Lancer Evo) 4m 14.63s.
Class winners: T J O’Connell (Nova), Chris Snow (Peugeot 206), Gerard O’Connell (Celica), Owen Murphy (Impreza), Paul Nolan (Berrisford Suzuki), Nicky Hegarty (Honda Special), Mossie Costelloe (Micra), Anthony Culleton (Semog).
